The Certificate in Further Professional Studies
This programme is taught through a combination of the e-learning disc, face-to-face meetings at the university and tutorials.
The participants in the first year of our project came from schools, colleges and private training companies. Each coached at least two learners and kept a record of their sessions. Most importantly they were asked to reflect 'in action' immediately after the session, and 'on action' after a period of time (Schon 1983). Personal Learning Coaches were also asked to reflect on their learning of the formal training. The third part of the programme was a short study on an issue that had arisen out of the reflections.
The studies and observations of the practitioners have contributed to the development of personal learning coaching through the creation of the e-learning disc. Contact us if you are interested in joining the programme.
